We studied Richard Avedon this week. We followed his simple recipe to replicate his style. His style of portraiture is simple but the goal is to show vulnerability.
I used subtle lighting and black and white to focus on the subject. And a completely white back round with no props. While the basic premise looked like a Richard Avedon photo, I had to give prompts to the subject. Making the model look vulnerable was extremely hard, but worked out with time.
